wow

in the past month, jonah has turned 7 months old, started crawling (and getting REALLY good at it), and becoming interested in pulling up on things, including people. he has two teeth now, and he was sick a couple weeks ago not to mention some ear infections... it's been pretty wild for this little boy.

(it won't let me upload pictures right now. boo.)

with all these changes, however, came some pretty big difficulties when it came time for him to sleep. he wants to just play. it was becoming really disheartening, so i started doing some research. i found out some great ways to help your baby sleep, and i was doing most of them already. jonah IS a good sleeper normally, and always once he gets to sleep! so then i started asking around...

after trying and changing a lot of things, i think i've figured it out, based on the ease of today's nap times... this sweet little boy, along with all the rest of the changes i mentioned above, has been transitioning out of three naps a day and into two naps a day!! i think it didn't help his naps that he is learning so much other stuff- i talked to my friend kristen and she said that her baby went through exactly what jonah went through when he started crawling really well, too. i seriously was beginning to think i was turning into a terrible mom. no one mentions how difficult transitional times can be... or else you just don't listen because you're not there yet haha. THIS IS WHY MOMS NEED MOM FRIENDS! i also got a box fan, thanks to my darling sister's suggestion, which blocks out even a giant wood chipper that was right outside our window yesterday.

so with all this going on, it has been pretty crazy around here. we are going to look at baby gates this weekend to keep jonah out of the kitchen. my sister taught my nephew about the "baby line", and he was really good with it... but sometimes i need to just run into the kitchen super fast, like if i'm cooking, and jonah has become really  quick with getting into the kitchen. i don't really want him in there because the floors get icky and there's too much dangerous yucky stuff going on.

on another note, i started reading harry potter. i just finished the first one last night. it actually is really good!! i don't really care about stories regarding wizards and magic, but j.k. rowling is a great writer. matt is really excited about my reading them, because he loves them so much.

have a great memorial day weekend, kristen, my only reader! lol

Natalie,

Dusty and I read this too!! We are definitely interested in the Tischler family. I can't believe Jonah is getting around so well. I keep thinking Kara is going to take off. She has been rocking on her knees, scooting, etc for several weeks, but just can't get the crawling down. I think Dusty may be secretly discouraging her since in less than two weeks, I will be the one staying at home with her - yay! I think he hopes she will wait to be mobile until then.
So what is this "baby line"?
