we're baaaaack

family and friends, romans, countrymen, lend me your ears. haha i had to memorize that speech by ceasar freshman year of high school. it sucked.

so we were in san francisco from last tuesday to this past saturday. overall it was a great trip! it was fun seeing a new place with matt, but it was especially great that we got to spend so much time together. we stayed on fisherman's wharf which is very close to where the sea lions hang out. they are awesome, but they smell pretty icky. when we arrived tuesday afternoon, we rested for a while at the hotel before walking along fisherman's wharf. then we had dinner at this sourdough bread factory called boudin. apparently it's super special bread because there is a bacteria in the air in san francisco that gives the bed its flavor. (the waiter gave us this whole spiel.)

on wednesday we went shopping at the three-story (!!!!!!!) old navy downtown for some maternity clothes (i didn't realize i would feel so pregnant while we were there), and then we headed to the baseball game! i was so excited about eating a hot dog once we got there that i hardly noticed when the game started! that was really cool, because the stadium looks out onto the bay. we got back to the hotel sometime in mid-afternoon, but we were exhausted from walking around 5 miles! we decided to go get a ghirardeli sundae that evening... i think it was that evening. i actually don't remember, but it was delicious.

thursday we went to muir woods (so peaceful) and stinson beach (so cold). and then friday we went to a couple different parks and found another beach to stop at for a little bit. saturday we had lunch and then it was time to go to the airport! our shuttle driver drove psychotically around the city, which has some very steep hills. at times it felt like we were on a roller coaster, which was fun but terrifying, too.

it was a fun trip, but we are so glad to be back home!!

in pregnancy news... last year i started experiencing some back pain, and i went to a couple doctors who just gave me pain medicine and basically said deal with it. well i didn't want to just take medicine, because that doesn't really fix the problem. thankfully, i met a friend who is in physical therapy school and she FIXED me! then i got pregnant and the work she did and the exercises i did completely went down the toilet with the pregnancy hormones loosening all my muscles and ligaments. so the pain is back, but this time it's shooting into the front of my pelvis, too. i am starting to go to physical therapy twice a week now, and this should also be a lot of help to me later when the baby is bigger and pressing down on even more bones and muscles.

finally, and this may seem completely random to type this in our blog, but last night we made homemade beef stew and homemade corn bread. (well, matt did most of it, but i helped!) oh. my. freaking. word. IT WAS SO GOOD! i just had some for lunch and it was even better! if you want to make it, we just used the recipes in the joy of cooking. you should go buy that book. almost everything in it is good. (well i haven't tried almost everything in it, but everything we've made has been spectacular.)

that's all for now. we go to the doctor again next friday, so i'll let y'all know what happens then. you stay classy, world.

there are a lot more pictures from our trip on facebook, but this website takes a long time to upload pictures... here are just a few.

in front of the "painted ladies", some cute town homes in san francisco, after our picnic there. in the opening credits of full house, the tanners are having a picnic in this park, so matt wanted to take me here.
