happy easter!

happy easter, everyone!... or every two, because i am thinking there are only two people who read this. haha :)

we had our second doctor's appointment yesterday morning. this time was more like the real first one where they did all the tests and stuff, but we got to see the baby again. he used a much older machine, so this time it really did look like a blob. i could hardly tell there was anything in there until he pointed out the flickering heartbeat. the coolest thing, though, was that we got to see our baby move!! God is so amazing to be making this happen for us right now! (ok, God would still be amazing even if this wasn't happening for us right now!) we go back in four weeks, and we'll be able to hear the heartbeat then. then i believe the next appointment will be when we find out the gender! woo hoo!

i think at this point it is safe to say that i did not have morning sickness. thank you, Lord!!!!! i still have a couple weeks left of my first trimester (i am 10 weeks, and will be 11 weeks on monday), but i think that if i haven't had it by now then it's not going to happen. i am not complaining! i hate throwing up so much. however, i have been experiencing extreme exhaustion, which really cuts into our time with friends... and we typically spend a ton of time with them. i keep hearing that it gets better in the second trimester, and i hope that is true for me.

i haven't had to start wearing maternity clothes, yet, but i have had to get that bella band that holds your pants up while you keep them unbuttoned. that is an amazing contraption, let me tell ya!

as some of you know, i was teaching first grade this semester for one of my mentor teachers from student teaching as she was out on maternity leave. well, thursday was my last day, and she's going back monday. i will miss the kids and the other teachers a lot, but it will also be really nice to take naps (so hopefully we can get some of that social life back), read the bible, go on a walk, and get chores and errands done so we don't have to do it on the weekends. matt has been so great helping to take care of all that stuff when i am too tired to move, but i am glad to be able to give him a break, especially as his final test for the CFA gets closer and closer.

speaking of a break, we are going to be taking our final vacation before becoming parents; a "babymoon", if you will. originally we were going to go to utah to ski and visit some close friends up there (who happen to be having a baby that is due two weeks before ours!!), but pregnant people can't ski or snow tube or participate in simulated sky diving experiences. we decided to change our tickets to san francisco! neither of us have ever been to california, so we are really looking forward to exploring a new place together.

we will hopefully update again before our next appointment, but until then, you stay classy!
