other stuff

you know, i am always updating about jonah. jonah this, jonah that. it's as if this baby is our favorite or something! ;) basically he is just a lot more interesting that matt and i when it comes to sharing news about our family. we aren't necessarily boring if you were to hang out with us, but when it comes to sharing big news, well, zilch. i mean we already had a baby. what else is there? haha juuuust kidding!

i would like to tell you that my and jonah's weeks have gotten a lot busier lately. we have just been social little butterflies, hanging out with friends and this week we started volunteering at church. that will only last until before easter, because the things we are doing are all getting ready for easter. i really like it though, because i love our church and maybe i'm weird, but i like to do little simpleton tasks to help people out. i think it reminds me of being in 8th grade at catholic school. at the end, it's like they've taught us all they wanted to teach us, so we left class all the time if another teacher needed help or something! (i still got knowledge and i'm a whiz when it comes to grammar. even though i don't type with capital letters. give me an essay and BOOM!)

jonah went to the doctor tuesday and he weights over 16 pounds. big boy! no wonder he is so hungry all the time! (p.s. we love his doctor. we met him at our birthing class and then had a consultation with him, where we found out that he goes to our church, which is so great because he prays for jonah at every appointment!) i have had a hard time trying to figure out this whole solid foods thing: when to give him how much and when to start other stuff, etc. well just like anything else, i've just decided to follow his cues! i think we have a good system going. i'm just grateful i don't have to explain it to anyone else! haha! i'm also grateful for my good sense, mother's instinct, and many articles on the internetZ.

ok a couple of other things. number one. most important... JODI PICOULT'S NEW NOVEL COMES OUT NEXT TUESDAY, MARCH 1ST!!! man i am a sucker for her books. every single one of them are amazing. i know this one will be great, too. now, although i am a fan of her books, i do not think i would be her friend. i know it sounds mean, and i'm not meaning it that way... it's just i followed her on twitter for a little while, and she is 1) very opinionated, 2) seems kind of vengeful if she doesn't get her way. i mean we can all be vengeful, but every tweet was just.. ugh. so i stopped following her! it's kind of crazy that i did, because i am the same girl who DIED from excitement when the woman sent me an email. anyway, i'm still excited about her book. in the words of troy on community, "I TOLD PIERCE I NEVER WANTED TO MEET LAVAR BURTON (or in this case, jodi picoult) IN PERSON! YOU CAN'T DISAPPOINT A PICTURE!)

also, please go listen to adele. she is amazing. my two favorite songs so far are chasing pavements and rolling in the deep (both on different CDs). she has a gorgeous voice, she's beautiful, and i like her. the end. matt really has been loving mumford and sons and, of course, muse. bleh. i do not love them. the only song i like from muse is the one on the twilight soundtrack. lol. i also downloaded the bruno mars album and a few old tlc songs. don't go chasing waterfalls.

ok another thing. (i guess this post is more like just things i want to tell you about that i like. remember, we don't have big news...) have you ever used a kindle? well i got one for matt right after jonah was born as a "congrats, you're a dad" present. it's the perfect gift for him, because he reads soooo many books (all at once!) plus he rides the train to work. well he really liked it so i decided i'd try it out. he bought me a kristin hannah book (really she's becoming another favorite author of mine), and i downloaded the kindle app on my phone. pretty cool. i was able to read it at random times like when i'm nursing jonah, when i'd be playing on my phone anyway. it was weird finishing it, because it's nice to close a book without a bookmark in it since you don't need it anymore, but it was also cool to close out of that book and go back to the main menu as an act of completeness.
