so this past week, as i'm sure you know, has been psychotic with the weather. it all began tuesday and thanks to ice and snow and freezing temperatures, we were stuck inside until friday night. we left friday night just to drive around because i was going bonkers. plus jonah had been really sick and then i got really sick and it was just the worst! allison and reese came over saturday and babysat jonah while matt and i went to lunch, but we came home early because i started feeling really icky. then sunday we got to go out quite a bit... we went to lunch to celebrate my mom's birthday (late, since jonah was sick the actual day of her bday), and walked around the outdoor mall where the restaurant was. then last night we went to our friends' house to "watch the superbowl" aka eat dinner and hang out and watch the commercials. (none of us really cared about the game haha.) so we are in great moods around here thanks to the sicknesses leaving and the weather being nice enough for us to not be trapped any longer! (although wednesday it's supposed to be icky again... but that's just wednesday!)
so a lot of times i have people ask me what i do all day as a stay-at-home-mom. i asked people what they did, too, when jonah was first born, because i just couldn't imagine how they just took care of their baby all day. so here's a little sample of one of our days (today) in case you were wondering. the times are just estimates, fyi. i'm sure it will bore you, but anyway...
5:45 am- wake up, shower
6:00- jonah wakes up, feed him, change him
6:45- eat breakfast
7:00- matt comes in because his car won't start
7:15- after getting myself and jonah ready to go, i drive matt to the train
7:30- get gas and go through car wash (which jonah LOVED by the way!)
8:00- change jonah, feed him, nap time
9:00- wash bottles, pick up, do laundry, eat a snack, do dishes
10:30- leave for meeting at 11
so that's just the morning, and then this afternoon we are going to go visit allison and reese. and then we'll pick up matt from the train and come home and make dinner!
so obviously i don't take matt and pick him up every day, and i don't have a meeting every day, and i don't go visit allison and reese every day. but on those days i still get cleaning done, or i might run errands. or if we just stay home and there isn't anything to do, then the pattern is kind of like this: jonah eats, we play, we read, maybe take a bath, jonah sleeps, while he sleeps i get stuff done (eating, cleaning, maybe read or knit or study the bible or other hobbies, or make a phone call or get stuff done that needs to be done). then he wakes up and we do it all over again!
ok so after this long post about what we do all day, i guess my point is this: although i am not out making money while jonah is at daycare or with a nanny, i am staying home taking care of our physical home, raising our baby, running errands, spending time with other stay-at-home-moms, so that when matt comes home, he doesn't have to run errands or do housework (although he is INCREDIBLY helpful and i don't have to do everything by any means). it's such a privilege to stay at home with jonah and i rarely get bored and i often need a break (even if it's just 30 minutes to take a bath or sit in our bedroom to read, which matt graciously encourages any time i need it) and overall, i love it.
p.s. jonah is so fun, and he laughs so much. i have some new pictures and videos, but i need to go fold the clothes rather than upload it all. the end.
