bleh

it's hot. there have been 16 consecutive days of 100 degree temperatures so far. there have been 22 in all... so far. at this point it's the 9th hottest summer texas has ever seen. (http://www.star-telegram.com/2010/08/12/2401682/dfws-streak-of-triple-digit-temperatures.html) yesterday i started praying that God would give some relief in the way of rain or something, and as we were leaving some friends' house, the temperature was noticeably cooler and it rained on the way home!!! praise the Lord!!!

you may be wondering why i have an entire post dedicated to the weather. well, let me just give you a little perspective on this heat. if you are living in texas and you think this is a hot summer, multiply it by 10, and that's how it feels for a pregnant woman. when you are pregnant, your resting metabolic rate is higher, due to all the baby cookin' going on, and that makes your body temperature higher. for example, yesterday we were in church, and although the tops of my thighs felt cold, i was sweating. everyone else was cold while i was sweating. it's ridiculous, but here are a few things i am thankful for:

-paper fans

-we don't live in india, where it can get to be way hotter than this with humidity of 100%

-this is not 1980, when temperatures were over 100 for 42 consecutive days. if you were born in 1980, go hug your mom and tell her thank you for carrying you. i couldn't even imagine.
